The Obreška Orchard is located near Ivanić-Grad, with a total area of 145 hectares of permanent apple orchards. The orchards were first established in 2004 and renewed in 2017. They feature a wide variety of apple cultivars, including Gala, Jonagold, Fuji, Braeburn, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, and Red Cap. With over 600,000 apple trees, Obreška remains one of the largest orchards in Croatia.
To ensure the high quality and protection of the apples, all plots are equipped with irrigation systems and anti-hail nets, while most plots also have frost protection systems.
In addition to the orchards, we now operate a 7.2-hectare pickling cucumber (cornichon) plantation. What makes this plantation impressive is that the entire area is covered with anti-hail nets and irrigation systems, making it the largest cornichon plantation in Croatia. The plantation has over 100,000 plants, and for their cultivation, it was necessary to install 24,000 meters of irrigation tape and special ground cover foil on which the cucumbers grow.
With its long-standing experience and tradition, the Obreška Orchard invests every year in skilled professionals and modern equipment, following the latest technological developments. In addition to focusing on apple quality, great attention is given to building a sustainable agricultural system that, through responsible soil, air, and water management, will remain available to future generations — confirmed by the GlobalGAP certification. Apples from the Obreška Orchard are part of the national quality system “Proven Quality,” guaranteeing local origin, premium quality, and controlled production.
The apples are harvested at their optimal technological maturity and cooled as soon as possible after picking. To maintain their freshness and quality, they are stored in one of 33 ULO cold storage chambers at the Arivera Fruit center in Dugo Selo, which is also equipped with a state-of-the-art camera system on the calibrator that captures 36 infrared images and 36 color images of each fruit.
